Sapporo offers traditional and FRESH sushi, sashimi, and other great food dishes. They're teppan-yaki (cooking grill tables) offer great entertainment as chef's put on a show infront of you. The food is sooooo delicious!!! The owner is very friendly and provides great service!! Great place to go especially if going with family or even if your just a tourist in monterey.

Went here expecting something fabulous and was very disappointed. It is as if they took some prime real estate and decided that the food doesnt matter. Our chef at the hibachi table was unfriendly and unresponsive when spoken to. The food was... not terrible but also not good. Bland, bland, bland. It was something that anyone with even a little experience in the kitchen could whip up at home for 1/4 the price. Save your money and eat elsewhere!

Sapporo's restaurant is a great place to enjoy fresh, cooked in front of your eyes Japanese food. The lunch specials are an especially great meal. This is one of those places where you sit at a table around a grill and the chef cooks your orders in front of you. Be prepared for the big burst of flames at the start! The chef puts on an enjoyable show while cooking up your delicious food. At lunchtime it tends to be a bit quieter, but things can get pretty loud come dinner time! This is a great place to go with friends or to take a small office out to lunch to celebrate a birthday. Oh, and speaking of birthdays...for $7.50, they will sing, play the drums, take a commemorative photo of your group, serve a fruit dessert and give the birthday person a set of very fancy chopsticks (5 pairs included) and chopstick holders.

We are new to the area and are trying to find a decent Sushi Restaurant. Sapporo was so disappointing. We have eaten sushi all over the US and my husband all over Japan. This place had extremely poor service and the sushi was below average. We were so disappointed and really felt like we had wasted our money. We really felt like the attitude of the restaurant was we are on the Wharf, these customers are tourist, and who cares!
